CANDI PLUMBANGAN
Plumbangan Temple is a temple located in Plumbangan Village, Doko District, Blitar Regency, East Java. The shape of this temple building is a gate paduraksa with a cube-shaped peak. The gate is made of andesite stone, with a length of 4.09 m, width of 2.27 m and a height of 5.6 m. The gate has a wing on its right and has no relief, but it has only a seam of course. At
the top of the threshold there is a sculpture number 1312 Saka (1390
AD), this temple was first reported by Hoepermans during a visit to
Wlingi. At first he thought that the structure of this gate is the ruins of the temple. When
de Haan visited Plumbangan Temple in 1920, the building had collapsed,
then in 1921 was held restoration. It seems not excessive if Plumbangan
Temple is called as a gateway over time. Indeed, the objects of cultural heritage in this region come from different periods of time. Visiting
Plumbangan Temple, we seemed to be transported by time dimension, from
the present era to Majapahit era even to Kadhiri era. From the moment this village has been named Plumbangan until now still called by the name Panumbangan. And
the gate makes this image feel real, Plumbangan gate faces east-west,
with 'wings' as wide as about 2 m stretching north and south. Unlike
the legs at Wringin Lawang Arch and Gapura Bajang Ratu high enough, the
foot Gumbura Plumbangan only as high as about 0.5 m, with 2 steps on
both sides. The thickness of the gate was only about 0.5 m. There is no sculpture of any decoration on this arch, either on the inside walls or outside walls. The roof is meru-shaped with a rectangular peak.About 6 m from the gate to the southeast, there is an inscription called Plumbangan Inscription. This inscription has been made of placemat from cement and given a tin roof. It is not known whether the original location was in place. The inscribed inscriptions on the inscription are very thin, barely legible. Not obtained information about the contents of the inscription.
