CANDI BRAHU
Brahu Temple is one of the temples located within the archaeological site of Trowulan, the former capital of Majapahit. Precisely, this temple is located in Hamlet of Guava, Bejijong Village, Trowulan Subdistrict, Mojokerto Regency, East Java, or about two kilometers to the north of Mojokerto-Jombang highway
The name of this temple, namely 'brahu', allegedly derived from the word wanaru or warahu. This name is derived from the title of a sacred building called in Alasantan Inscription. The inscription is found not far from the Brahu Temple
Brahu temple is built with red brick, facing west and about 22.5 m long, 18 m wide, and 20 meters in height.
The Brahu temple is built with Buddhist style and culture. Estimated, this temple was founded in the 15th century AD although there are still differences of opinion on this matter. Some say that this temple is much older than other temples around Trowulan. In the inscription written Mpu Sendok dated September 9, 939 (861 Saka), Brahu Temple is called a burning place (crematorium) corpses of the kings. However, in the study there is no single expert who managed to find the former ash in the cubicle of the temple. This was verified after the restoration of the temple from 1990 to 1995
Allegedly around this temple there are many small temples. The remaining parts that have been crumbling still exist, such as Muteran Temple, Temple Building, Central Temple, and Gentong Temple. When excavations are done around the temple many ancient objects are found, such as ceremonial instruments of metal, gold jewelry, statues, and others
