CANDI RIMBI

This temple was once the gateway south of Majapahit Kingdom. Located in Ngrimbi Village, Bareng District. The location is very strategic because it is located on the edge of the main road Mojoagung-Wonosalam.Candi Rimbi is a Hindu relic of the Classical period located in Jombang, East Java. This temple is also often called Cungkup Pulo. The name Rimbi is associated with the name of a puppet character named Arimbi, Werkudara's wife or better known as Bima. Occupying an area of ​​896.56 square meters, the existing building now has a length of 13.24 meters, 9.10 meters wide and 12 meters high . Rimbi temple body is formed from andesite rocks while the foundation is built from brick. The condition of Rimbi temple is very similar to Candi Sumur in Sidoarjo. Roof and half of the temple has collapsed so it is difficult to imagine what kind of body shape and roof of the temple. At the foot of the temple there are various reliefs depicting humans and animals. One of the unique reliefs depicts a pair of humans (brides) who are in a barrel. Until now can not be known the story depicted through the reliefs. based on the architecture of the building, Rimbi Temple is a Hindu background. This, marked the discovery of the statue of Goddess Parwati (wife of Lord Shiva) is now stored in the National Museum of Jakarta. Arca Parwati found in the ruins of the main room of the temple. Parvati statue found in Rimbi Temple is estimated to be the embodiment of Tribhuwana Tunggadewi, Majapahit queen who ruled in 1328-1350 AD Hindu statues are pretty much found in the temple yard. Unfortunately, the statues are not in full condition, even some of them leaving only pieces of his body only. A plinth that is located in the temple yard leaves a statue foot. An ornament with a rather large size is also lying in one corner of the temple yard. It is estimated that the stone berelief this time was used to decorate the entrance to the room (chamber) of the temple as generally the temple from the Classical period.
