Findings of Siras Cakra Evidence that Gedog Temple is Older than the Majapahit Periode.

In the excavation of Gedog Temple, there were found fragments of statues of the backrest or stela and chakra siras. From the smooth and neat carvings, it shows that the age of Gedog Temple is older than the time of the Majapahit Kingdom.

BPCB Jatim archaeologist Nugroho Harjo Lukito said this finding was quite special. Because it changed the initial prediction that this site was a legacy of the Majapahit Kingdom.

One fragment of the statue and siras chakra was found on the west side of the banyan tree at a depth of 60 cm. The condition is split into three parts. In addition, the team also discovered the western side of the building's floor and structure that leads to the south."In terms of carving, it is very detailed, smooth and very neat. There are batik motifs and tendril motifs on the siras cakra. This is identical to the art of sculpture during the Singashari period. Because at that time it was known as the pinnacle of sculpture in the Hindu Buddhist era in East Java. temporary assumptions, hopefully we find another part of the statue, "Nugroho told detikcom, Saturday (10/10/2020).
